Build Aspect

Voltas 173 DZA is bit of a odd-ball 1.4 Ton Window AC from Tata owned Voltas. Odd because it packs a 1.4 Ton compressor, which is rather unique and currently only seen in Air Conditioners from Voltas. Nevertheless the AC looks and has a size of a 1.5 Ton AC for all intents and purposes. Subsequently the window AC is well made and has a substantial heft to it. As a result of this heft the impressions are of a durable, high quality product. Furthermore the looks are simple yet very elegant thanks to a dash of strip running on the left of AC with “Voltas” imprint. Thankfully the remote is a chunky unit and good to hold and easy to operate.

Performance Aspect

Getting to the meat of the AC, its performance is pretty good. Its cooling capacity is right on the money and the 15968 BTU /hr cooling effect is felt quickly. The compressor purrs and works in the background to give a good steady stream of cool air, which reduces the room temperatures quickly. However the air flow is just an average 412 CFM and goes without saying that there are ACs which have must faster fan speeds. Moreover the ISEER is just 2.91 W/W which is nothing spectacular either.
