Build Aspect

Aavante Bar 1400 is a somewhat uniquely designed soundbar much alike the 1700D. The soundbar itself is made from plastic with a metal grill and a sloping design language. Similarly the MDF subwoofer also sports a rather unconventional front look with a large Boat logo on front. Additionally it is equipped with a 6.5 inch driver. On the other hand the soundbar is plonked with 4 x 2″ inch drivers which output the mid-range and treble frequencies. The wired subwoofer is side firing one with a rear bass reflex port to extend and increase the LFE output.  The input options are plenty with Optical, HDMI ARC, Aux, USB and Bluetooth connectivity.

Performance Aspect

Upon unfurling the sails from the soundbar we are greeted with good quality audio. For example the 4 drivers in the soundbar produce very airy, detailed and focused mid-range, it is very dynamic. Similarly the highs are well pronounced and sparkly. As a result of a small dip in response in the mid-highs certain instruments sound a little hollow. Finally the bass is adequate and completes the balance of audio with punch and rumble, with one issue which is the tendency of bass to sound coarse and rudimentary at louder volumes. Nonetheless all things considered its performance is decent and it will be a joy to listen to this soundbar system.
