Build Aspect

Aavante Bar 1700D is a somewhat quirky designed soundbar from the house of Boat. The soundbar itself is made from plastic with a metal grill with a groove which lends it the said quirky design. Likewise the subwoofer also sports a rather unconventional front look, however unlike the soundbar the subwoofer is made of MDF. Additionally it is equipped with a 6.5 inch driver where as the soundbar is plonked with 4 x 2.25 inch drivers which duly perform the midrange and treble duty. The wired subwoofer is side firing one with a rear bass reflex port to extend and increase the LFE output. Soundbar has the capability to be wall mounted and consequently is relatively light weight. The input options are plenty with Optical, HDMI ARC, Aux, USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Do note the only difference with Boat Aavante Bar 1500 is the inclusion of Dolby Digital Plus in the 1700D version.

Performance Aspect

It gives us immense pleasure in saying that the sound quality of this soundbar is good. We will even say that it certainly punches above its weight. To begin with with treble range and highs are very sparkly, clear and full of life, they have a very revealing texture and focused treble. Thanks to 4 drivers in the soundbar the midrange is extravagant too, vocals are dynamic and loud albeit with a slight nasal tonality. Finally the bass is apt and completes the balance of audio with a lot of punch and rumble, with one caveat i.e., the tendency of bass to sound bloated at louder volumes. All in all this soundbar system is a high performance system and works well for most scenarios and will satisfy you unless you are looking for more accurate audio we would say go for it.
