Build Aspect

Aavante Bar 1500 is a somewhat peculiar designed soundbar from Boat. The soundbar itself is made from plastic with a metal grill with a groove in the center, design will have polarizing opinions. Likewise the subwoofer also sports a rather unconventional front look, however unlike the soundbar the subwoofer is made of MDF. Additionally it is equipped with a 6.5 inch driver while the soundbar is plonked with 4 x 2.25 inch drivers which perform the midrange and treble duty. The wired subwoofer is a side firing with a rear bass reflex port to extend and increase the bass output. Additionally the soundbar has the capability to be wall mounted and consequently is relatively light weight. The input options are plenty with Optical, HDMI ARC, Aux, USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Do note the only difference between Boat Aavante Bar 1500 and 1700D is the inclusion of Dolby Digital Plus in the Aavante Bar 1700D.

Performance Aspect

The audio quality is very almost identical to Aavante 1700D. To begin with with treble range and highs are very airy, revealing and crispy. Moreover as a result of 4 drivers in the soundbar the midrange such as vocals and instruments are dynamic and loud albeit with a same slight nasal tonality as the 1700D. Lastly the bass and LFE is adequate for most part and completes the balance of audio with fast beats, rumble, however it sounds bloated and coarse at louder volumes. All in all this soundbar system is a high performance system and much recommend unless you need the Dolby Digital Plus in which case we recommend the Aavante Bar 1700D.
