While some would think tape is not elastic and that can be uncomfortable, but that is on purpose. The purpose being that the fitment stays on the level of tightness you desire. Apart from that a wetness indicator more or less tells you when the diaper has reached it absorption threshold.

Diapers are meant to absorb and the weight of this single diaper is around 20 grams dry. A higher dry weight should mean that the diaper has decent absorption capability.
