Build Aspect

LG SNH5 is a heavy duty, high quality soundbar with a wired sub woofer. The build quality of both items is top notch and even a keen eye would not be able to find any flaws in the construction whatsoever. For instance the sub woofer is made from wood/mdf with a front plastic baffle covering the 7″ driver (under a plastic grill) and also housing the bass extension port. Its a passive unit with a single snap on type wire connector which is used to connect it to the main unit. Talking about the main unit, it is a very heavy one in fact heavier than the subwoofer itself. It houses 4 drives of 3″ size, and a small LED segment display on the front. At the rear are the input/output HDMI, Optical, USB ports for varying connectivity requirements. Like mentioned earlier, its a very well built soundbar, however it lacks the ability to be wall mounted. Moreover 3.5mm, RCA connectors are conspicuous by there absence.

Performance Aspect

Audio quality is very good. Makes sense? No. Alright, lets be more precise, shall we. The mid range is articulate and enhances the dialogue intelligibility with good clarity and pristine instrument separation. Likewise the treble is cohesive and very airy and has a rich texture to it. In contrast although the bass is strong and punchy, it tends to get boomy and coarse when pushed hard. Its a 4.1 soundbar however it supports various surround codecs for a trouble free surround sound experience. Taking into account its audio quality, features it would not be wrong to say that this Soundbar is a capable one and is a good option to not only accentuate but experience TV viewing on another level.
